Welcome to the Liberty First Network. Please feel free to visit and explore our site. Check out our liberty blog for the latest news and events, as well as some educational material.

For too long, special interests, to include our very government agencies, have replaced We The People as to who our elected officials are representing, and this has resulted in a loss of liberty for the citizens. The average citizen or small group of citizens has little voice in our government.

The Liberty First Network is a pending 501(c)(4) Florida non-profit organization. We exist to educate citizens about Liberty, and to advocate for the restoration of Liberty in the Florida Legislature and elsewhere.

Our group was established with one principle: To place Liberty first in Tallahassee.

Liberty is defined in the dictionary as:

  1. The power of choosing, thinking, and acting for oneself; freedom from control or restriction

  2. The condition of being free from restriction or control.

  3. The right and power to act, believe, or express oneself in a manner of one’s own choosing.

  4. The condition of being physically and legally free from confinement, servitude, or forced labor.

  5. Freedom from unjust or undue governmental control.

  6. A right or immunity to engage in certain actions without control or interference.

We like number 1, the power to choose, think and act for oneself, free from control or restriction. I can choose what foods I eat, where I live and work, what kind of vehicle I drive, who I associate with.  The freedom to work hard and acquire property.

The only restriction on my freedom and liberty, is that I cannot interfere with the freedom of others to pursue their own choices. I cannot force someone to eat foods they do not like, and I cannot use government to force others to do what I think benefits me.

“Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one; for when we suffer, or are exposed to the same miseries BY A GOVERNMENT, which we might expect in a country WITHOUT GOVERNMENT, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer.”

—Thomas Paine,  Common Sense

“He that, in the state of nature, would take away the freedom that belongs to any one in that state, must necessarily be supposed to have a design to take away every thing else, that freedom being the foundation of all the rest; as he that, in the state of society, would take away the freedom belonging to those of that society or commonwealth, must be supposed to design to take away from them every thing else, and so be looked on as in a state of war.”

— John Locke, The Second Treatise of Civil Government [1690]
